Some of the accomplishments for the program year 2014-2015 include:
Our Tastes of the Mediterranean event in February raised $7450 to benefit the Fisher House Foundation.
Helle Chapter prepared and served food at Bailey’s Crossroads Shelter in April, and we donated 250 gloves and handwarmers that were assembled in survival packages sponsored by the Saint Katherine’s Mission Team.
We provided a donation and raised money for the Helping Hellenic HEROes (Hellenic Emergency Response Officers) – an effort to raise funds to bring firefighters and police officers from Greece to compete in the 2015 World Police and Fire Games.
Several members attended the joint District 3 and 4 AHEPA/DOP Convention in Timonium, MD.
At the convention our chapter, the Helle Chapter and the Hermione Chapter tied for the 2014-2015 “District 3 Daughters of Penelope Chapter of the Year”.
Our Sister, Rosalie Georgeadis, Vice President of Membership, was awarded District Penelope of the Year!
Two Sisters received district positions. Our Sister Lynn Francis was elected to the position of Marshal for the District 3 Lodge. Sister Janis Anderson, was elected to District Advisor to Maids of Athena.
The Chapter presented scholarships, one at the Washington Metropolitan Area AHEPA/DOB Scholarship Banquet and the Hellenism Award for Academic Excellence and Individual Achievement to two graduating Greek School students of Saint Katherine Greek School.
We wrapped up the year with a celebration at the Winery at Bull Run.
